It now depends on the decision of each individual whether the generations after us will also find an environment worth living in
The facility management company Dimmi was founded in Vienna in 1996, and its expansion has grown rapidly over the years. Today the company offers more than 130 employees a secure job and looks after many properties across Austria.
For the magazine Diplomacy and Commerce Austria we worked with the founder of the house care company Dimmi and the managing partner, KommR Mag. Alexander Dimmi MBA MPA, talked about the protection of the environment and the personal commitment of each and every one of us.
Your awareness of protecting the environment made you react quickly and be among the first in your industry to start doing green things. Do your customers welcome this initiative and does it bring new customers to the company who are aware of the importance of climate protection and the environment? And how important is the personal commitment of each and every one of us?
As the father of two children, environmentally conscious action is very important to me, and we have always communicated our efforts in this regard to our customers. Almost ten years ago we replaced our oil heating with a more environmentally friendly air heat pump. We have been using ecologically certified cleaning agents for several years and do not use blue-grain artificial fertilizers for lawn care.
If we help to raise environmental awareness in society, we will at the same time increase the demand for our ecological cleaning methods. It now depends on the decision of each individual whether the generations after us will also find an environment worth living in.
In addition to the immediate environmental protection measures on site, you recently expanded the DIMMI company car fleet with emission-free electric cars. Given the comparatively high price of Tesla cars, will this purchase pay off for the company over the years, and shouldn’t all entrepreneurs act more consciously and do more to protect the environment?
The burning of fossil fuels is being phased out for several reasons: on the one hand, resources will run out at some point, and on the other hand, emissions not only have an impact on the global climate, but also on our air and soil. Electromobility is certainly not the philosopher’s stone, especially when you consider the circumstances of lithium production.
Nevertheless, this drive seems to belong to the future compared to hydrogen. The high investment costs pay off over a longer period of time by halving the operating costs and extending the service and maintenance intervals. In addition, there is currently a state investment premium of 14% and the elimination of the benefit in kind reduces the amount of ancillary wage costs. Anyone who abandons the idea of buying a new vehicle every four years will certainly benefit. As a successful entrepreneur, you have to make long-term decisions, especially when it comes to environmental issues!
