Adria Future Summit 2026 Opens: A Region in Search of Its Place in a New Economic Reality (VIDEO)

With more than 1,000 participants, 100 accredited media representatives, and a program featuring 70 panels and events, the Adria Future Summit 2026 officially opened this morning in Tivat

Judging by the tone of the opening remarks, this is not just another conference driven by abstract optimism. The region stands at a turning point. The questions being raised this week in Montenegro are not only about how to attract capital, but how to translate that capital into tangible partnerships, agreements, and projects that deliver long-term value to the region, both natural and human. For the fourth consecutive year, the Summit is organized by Sustineri Partners in partnership with the Government of Montenegro and under the patronage of the President of Montenegro.

This year’s Summit is being held under a new name. What began in 2023 as the ESG Adria Summit has now evolved into the Adria Future Summit. Sustainability remains at the core of the conversation, but that conversation has expanded to include growth, resilience, governance, and innovation.

The Summit was officially opened by Biljana Braithwaite, Founder and CEO of Sustineri Partners; Predrag Leković, Director of Government Relations at Porto Montenegro; and Željko Komnenović, Mayor of Tivat.

“This region has long been the subject of other people’s conversations. This Summit exists so that the region can speak for itself, in its own voice,” said Braithwaite. “Four years after our first gathering, we are no longer coming here to talk about the future of the region, we are here to help build it.”

For the hosts, the Summit reaffirms that Montenegro can be more than a tourist destination. Komnenović emphasized that local communities must be at the center of major investment cycles. “Tivat today is not just a city that welcomes visitors. It is a place where global visions intersect with local needs. Our responsibility is to ensure that every investment coming into this city creates long-term value for our citizens,” he stated.

Leković highlighted that infrastructure must evolve in step with societal needs. “When we began the story of Porto Montenegro, the vision was to create a world-class destination. Today, that vision is evolving. The real question for all of us in the real estate and tourism industries is how to build projects that are not only economically viable, but also socially integrated,” he said.

Montenegro itself is at the center of this year’s broader context. The country is the most advanced in accession negotiations with the European Union and holds the presidency of the Berlin Process this year. Within that framework, the Berlin Process Energy Ministers’ Forum is taking place in parallel with the Summit, organized by Montenegro’s Ministry of Mining and Energy and the Energy Community Secretariat, with the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, as part of the Germany–Western Balkans Climate Partnership.

Following the Forum, ministers and investors will continue into a joint session focused on execution: which projects are ready, which are financially viable, and who moves first.

Adria Future Summit 2026 is supported by numerous partners and sponsors, including platinum sponsors Universal Capital Bank (UCB), MTEL, and Eagle Hills, as well as gold sponsors UNIQA, ASMiRA Group, and Meter&Control. Their involvement underscores the private sector’s commitment to fostering an innovative and sustainable business environment across the region.

Among more than one hundred panelists and keynote speakers, notable participants include Milojko Spajić, John Jovanovich, Mohamed Alabbar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Annette Kroeber-Riel, Cherie Blair, Richard Attias, Irena Radović, Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Artur Lorkowski, Amer Kapetanović, Fridtjof Berge, Maida Gorčević, and many others.

This year’s Summit agenda covers, among other topics, the energy transition, infrastructure priorities, the role of artificial intelligence, the future of tourism, and the protection of human rights in business—each recognized as an urgent priority for the region.

More than 1,000 decision-makers in one place, 70 sessions, and three days. It is time for conversations to turn into decisions.
