Auch heuer darf ich wieder den Leserinnen und Lesern von Diplomacy&Commerce, allen Kolleginnen und Kollegen in Diplomatie und Wirtschaft und ihren Familien und Freunden ein fröhliches und friedliches Weihnachtsfest und Glück, Gesundheit und Wohlergehen für das neue Jahr 2024 wünschen.
Auch wenn vieles in der Welt Anlass zur Sorge gibt, dürfen wir doch die Spuren der Hoffnung, deren Zeugen wir immer wieder sein dürfen, nicht übersehen. Papst Franziskus schreibt in seiner Botschaft zum 56. Weltfriedenstag, mit dem das nun zu Ende gehende Jahr begonnen hat: “Es ist an der Zeit, dass wir uns alle für die Heilung unserer Gesellschaft und unseres Planeten einsetzen und die Grundlagen für eine gerechtere und friedlichere Welt schaffen, die sich ernsthaft um ein Gemeinwohl müht, das wirklich alle miteinschließt” (Papst Franziskus, Botschaft zum 56. Weltfriedenstag, 1. Jänner 2023).

Christmas message
“The time has come for all of us to endeavour to heal our society and our planet, to lay the foundations for a more just and peaceful world, and to commit ourselves seriously to pursuing a good that is truly common” (Pope Francis, Message for the 56th World Day of Peace, 1 January 2023).
Once again this year, I would like to wish the readers of Diplomacy&Commerce, all my colleagues in diplomacy and business and their families and friends a merry and peaceful Christmas and happiness, health and well-being for the New Year 2024.
Even though there are many things in the world that give cause for concern, we must not overlook the traces of hope that we are always able to witness. Pope Francis writes in his message for the 56th World Day of Peace, which marks the beginning of the year now drawing to a close: “The time has come for all of us to endeavour to heal our society and our planet, to lay the foundations for a more just and peaceful world, and to commit ourselves seriously to pursuing a good that is truly common” (Pope Francis, Message for the 56th World Day of Peace, 1 January 2023).
May I invite us all to heed the Pope’s call to become pioneers of a better future and a better world, and I am yours with all my heart
