Als Auftakt zur bevorstehenden Vienna Pride 2026 luden die Schweizerische Botschafterin in Österreich, I. E. Salome Meyer, und ihre Frau Marije Bijl zu einem festlichen PRIDE-Empfang in die Residenz der Schweizer Botschafterin in Wien ein.
In ihrer Begrüßungsrede betonte Botschafterin Meyer die Bedeutung der Pride-Woche als Symbol für Sichtbarkeit, Solidarität und Vielfalt. Pride stehe nicht nur für gesellschaftliche Akzeptanz, sondern auch für politisches Engagement, gegenseitigen Respekt und Lebensfreude.
Die Veranstaltung unterstrich die Rolle der Diplomatie bei der Förderung von Gleichberechtigung und Menschenrechten.
Botschafterin Meyer hob hervor, dass die Vienna Pride Jahr für Jahr Menschen unterschiedlicher Herkunft, Kulturen und Lebensrealitäten zusammenbringt und damit ein starkes Zeichen für eine offene und inklusive Gesellschaft setzt.

As a prelude to Vienna Pride 2026, the Swiss Ambassador to Austria, H.E. Salome Meyer, and her wife, Marije Bijl, hosted a festive Pride Reception at the Ambassador’s Residence in Vienna.
In her welcoming remarks, Ambassador Meyer highlighted the importance of Pride Week as a symbol of visibility, solidarity, and diversity. She emphasized that Pride represents not only social acceptance but also political commitment, mutual respect, and the celebration of life in all its forms.
The event underscored the important role of diplomacy in promoting equality, inclusion, and human rights. Bringing together members of the diplomatic community, civil society, and LGBTQ+ advocates, the reception served as a powerful reminder of the shared responsibility to foster open and inclusive societies.
Ambassador Meyer also noted that Vienna Pride continues to unite people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences year after year, sending a strong message in support of openness, respect, and equal rights for all.
