80. Nationalfeiertag Italiens und das italienische Klischee, das wir alle lieben! (VIDEO) (D & ENG)

Anlässlich des 80. Nationalfeiertags der Italienischen Republik luden S.E. Giovanni Pugliese, Botschafter der Italienischen Republik in Österreich, I.E. Debora Lepre, Botschafterin und Ständige Vertreterin Italiens bei den Vereinten Nationen in Wien, sowie S.E. Andrea Cascone, Ständiger Vertreter Italiens bei der OSZE, zu einem festlichen Empfang ins Palais Metternich ein.

Zahlreiche Gäste aus Diplomatie, Politik und Wirtschaft folgten der Einladung der Italienischen Botschaft in Wien und wurden im eigens für diesen Anlass in den Farben der „Tricolore“ dekorierten Palais Metternich herzlich empfangen. Die Feierlichkeiten fanden am Dienstag, dem 2. Juni, statt. Zu den Gästen zählten Vertreter der österreichischen Bundesregierung und der Stadt Wien, Mitglieder des diplomatischen Korps sowie Repräsentanten aus Wirtschaft, Kunst und Kultur und prominente Mitglieder der italienischen Gemeinschaft in Österreich.

80 Jahre Italienische Republik

Mit ihren Begrüßungsansprachen erinnerten die Botschafter Giovanni Pugliese, Debora Lepre und Andrea Cascone an den historischen 2. Juni 1946 – einen der bedeutendsten Tage der modernen italienischen Geschichte. An diesem Datum entschied sich die italienische Bevölkerung im Rahmen eines Referendums für die Gründung der Republik und beendete damit die Monarchie. Der italienische Nationalfeiertag erinnert jährlich an dieses historische Ereignis, das von italienischen Vertretungen weltweit mit offiziellen Feierlichkeiten gewürdigt wird.

Das italienische Klischee, das wir alle lieben

Bei dem von der Italienischen Botschaft organisierten Empfang durfte auch die berühmte italienische Gastfreundschaft nicht fehlen. Den Gästen wurden Pizza, italienisches Eis, erlesene Weine sowie bekannte italienische Spirituosen von höchster Qualität serviert. Die kulinarischen Spezialitäten spiegelten einmal mehr jene Lebensart wider, für die Italien weltweit geschätzt und bewundert wird.

Feierlichkeiten in zwei Teilen

Nach dem offiziellen Festakt für das diplomatische Korps sowie Vertreter der österreichischen Bundesregierung veranstaltete die Italienische Botschaft in Wien einen zweiten Teil der Feierlichkeiten, der den Mitgliedern der italienischen Gemeinschaft in Österreich gewidmet war.

In einem festlichen Rahmen kamen zahlreiche angesehene Vertreter der italienischen Diaspora zusammen, um das 80-jährige Bestehen der Italienischen Republik zu würdigen. Die Veranstaltung bot nicht nur Gelegenheit, die historischen und kulturellen Verbindungen zur Heimat zu feiern, sondern auch die bedeutenden Beiträge der italienischen Gemeinschaft zum gesellschaftlichen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Leben Österreichs hervorzuheben.

Italy’s 80th National Day and the Italian Stereotype We All Love!

To mark the 80th National Day of the Italian Republic, H.E. Giovanni Pugliese, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Austria, H.E. Debora Lepre, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations in Vienna, and H.E. Andrea Cascone, Permanent Representative of Italy to the OSCE, hosted a festive reception at Palais Metternich in Vienna.

Numerous guests from the diplomatic, political, and business communities attended the event organized by the Italian Embassy. The historic Palais Metternich, specially decorated in the colors of the Italian Tricolore for the occasion, provided an elegant setting for the celebrations. Among the attendees were representatives of the Austrian Federal Government, the City of Vienna, members of the diplomatic corps, leading figures from the business, arts, and cultural sectors, as well as prominent members of the Italian community in Austria.

80 Years of the Italian Republic

In their welcoming remarks, Ambassadors Giovanni Pugliese, Debora Lepre, and Andrea Cascone reflected on the historic significance of June 2, 1946—one of the most important dates in modern Italian history. On that day, the Italian people voted in a national referendum to establish the Republic, bringing an end to the monarchy.

Italy’s National Day commemorates this landmark democratic decision each year and is celebrated by Italian diplomatic missions around the world. This year’s anniversary holds particular significance, marking eight decades since the birth of the Italian Republic.

The Italian Stereotype We All Love

No celebration of Italy would be complete without a showcase of the country’s renowned hospitality and culinary traditions. At the reception organized by the Italian Embassy, guests were treated to pizza, authentic Italian gelato, fine wines, and a selection of renowned Italian spirits.

The culinary offerings reflected the lifestyle and culture for which Italy is admired worldwide—combining tradition, quality, and a passion for bringing people together. Beyond the official speeches and diplomatic exchanges, the evening offered guests a taste of Italy’s rich cultural heritage and the warm spirit that continues to define the country’s image across the globe.

Celebrations in Two Parts

Following the official ceremony attended by members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the Austrian federal government, the Italian Embassy in Vienna hosted a second segment of the celebrations dedicated to members of the Italian community in Austria.

In a festive atmosphere, numerous distinguished representatives of the Italian diaspora gathered to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic. The event provided an opportunity not only to celebrate the historical and cultural ties with their homeland, but also to highlight the significant contributions of the Italian community to Austria’s social, economic, and cultural life.
