Six new diplomatic representatives presented their credentials to Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen
Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen welcomed six new ambassadors to the Presidential Chancellery on Friday, 18 September 2026, where they formally presented their letters of credence.
The ceremony marked the official beginning of their diplomatic missions in Austria, with the newly accredited ambassadors assuming their roles as the highest-ranking representatives of their respective countries.
A warm welcome to the new ambassadors representing the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Malaysia, the Republic of Chile, the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Belgium.
With the formal presentation of their credentials to the Federal President, they are now officially accredited as their countries’ diplomatic representatives to the Republic of Austria.

For the six new heads of mission, the accreditation ceremony marks the formal beginning of their diplomatic duties in Austria. In their new roles, they will play a key part in fostering bilateral relations, strengthening dialogue and further developing cooperation between their respective countries and the Republic of Austria.
Their arrival also opens a new chapter in diplomatic engagement with Austria – one shaped by dialogue, partnership and the continued strengthening of international ties.

Sechs neue diplomatische Vertreter überreichten Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen ihre Beglaubigungsschreiben
Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen empfing am Freitag, den 18. September 2026, sechs neue Botschafterinnen und Botschafter in der Präsidentschaftskanzlei. Im Rahmen der feierlichen Akkreditierung überreichten die Diplomatinnen und Diplomaten dem Bundespräsidenten ihre Beglaubigungsschreiben und traten damit offiziell ihre Funktion als Vertreterinnen und Vertreter ihrer jeweiligen Staaten in Österreich an.
Ein herzliches Willkommen gilt den neuen Botschafterinnen und Botschaftern der Bundesrepublik Nigeria, des Vereinigten Königreichs Großbritannien und Nordirland, Malaysias, der Republik Chile, der Republik Island sowie des Königreichs Belgien.
Mit der Überreichung ihrer Beglaubigungsschreiben sind sie nun offiziell als diplomatische Vertreterinnen und Vertreter ihrer Länder in der Republik Österreich akkreditiert.
