Zwischen Pyramiden und Couture: Ägyptische Designkunst in Wien
Am Dienstag, dem 19. Mai, luden S.E. Mohamed Nasr, Botschafter Ägyptens, und seine Ehefrau Marwa Elmosslemany gemeinsam mit Susan Sabet vom Egyptian Fashion & Design Council in die Ägyptische Botschaft zu einem exklusiven Event ein, das den Werken etablierter sowie aufstrebender ägyptischer Designer und Kunsthandwerker gewidmet war.
Der außergewöhnliche Abend versammelte zahlreiche Damen aus der Welt der Diplomatie, der Mode sowie renommierte Vertreterinnen der Wiener Gesellschaft. In stilvoller Atmosphäre bot die Veranstaltung einen eindrucksvollen Einblick in die kreative Vielfalt der zeitgenössischen ägyptischen Modeszene.
Nach der offiziellen Begrüßung durch Marwa Elmosslemany und Susan Sabet hatten die Gäste Gelegenheit, die präsentierten Einzelstücke näher kennenzulernen. Gezeigt wurden exklusive Modekreationen, Schmuckstücke und Accessoires, die vom Egyptian Fashion & Design Council kuratiert wurden. Insgesamt präsentierten 15 Designer ihre Arbeiten und brachten damit den kreativen Geist des Landes am Nil, der Pyramiden und der Pharaonen nach Wien.
„Im Namen des Egyptian Fashion & Design Council möchte ich S.E. Mohamed Nasr und seiner Ehefrau unseren tief empfundenen Dank dafür aussprechen, dass sie unsere Designer erneut in der Botschaft empfangen und diese besondere Veranstaltung ermöglicht haben. Unsere erste Präsentation in Wien fand bereits im Rahmen der Vienna Fashion Week im Jahr 2021 statt. Ähnliche Ausstellungen haben wir zudem in unseren Botschaften in Paris und London organisiert. Die Unterstützung unserer Auslandsvertretungen und ihrer Repräsentanten ist von entscheidender Bedeutung für unser Ziel, ägyptische Designer international sichtbar zu machen“ – sagte Susan Sabet vom Egyptian Fashion & Design Council exklusiv im Gespräch mit dem D&C Magazin und unterstrich dabei die Bedeutung dieser Initiative für die internationale Förderung ägyptischer Designer.

Between Pyramids and Couture: Egyptian Design Art in Vienna
On Tuesday, May 19, H.E. Mohamed Nasr, Ambassador of Egypt, and his wife Marwa Elmosslemany, together with Susan Sabet of the Egyptian Fashion & Design Council, hosted an exclusive event at the Egyptian Embassy dedicated to the work of established and emerging Egyptian designers and artisans.
The remarkable evening brought together distinguished women from the worlds of diplomacy, fashion, and Vienna’s high society. Set against the elegant backdrop of the embassy, the event offered guests a captivating insight into the creativity and diversity of Egypt’s contemporary fashion scene.
Following the official welcome by Marwa Elmosslemany and Susan Sabet, guests were invited to explore a curated selection of unique fashion pieces, jewelry, and accessories presented by the Egyptian Fashion & Design Council. In total, 15 designers showcased their creations, bringing the creative spirit of the land of the Nile, the pyramids, and the pharaohs to the Austrian capital.
“On behalf of the Egyptian Fashion & Design Council i want to express our deepest gratitude to HE Mohamed Nasr and his spouse to welcome and host our designers once again at the embassy. The first time we showcased in Vienna was during Vienna Fashion Week in 2021. We have organized similar exhibitions in our embassies in Paris and London. Such support through our foreign missions and it’s representatives is vital in our quest to promote our designers internationally.” – said Susan Sabet of the Egyptian Fashion & Design Council in an exclusive interview with Diplomacy&Commerce Austria Magazine, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in promoting Egyptian designers on the international stage.
